Taiwan Shilin District Prosecutors Office received intelligence regarding Zheng O-Ying, a member of the Tiandao Gang, was manipulating drug-trafficking syndicate for profiteering and was in possession of illegal firearms in Tamsui District, New Taipei City.Head Prosecutor Yang Ji-hua and Prosecutor Chen Zi-wen from the anti-drug task force were immediately assigned to instruct Criminal Investigation Division of the Taipei City Police Department and Zhongshen Branch of the Taipei City Police Department to conduct the investigations. A search was carried out at 2 different locations in Tamsui area with a court-approved search warrant on August 6th, 2021 and seized contraband items including 24 pieces of long and short guns, 1,200 bullets , 40 packets of ketamine, 969 drug-tainted coffee packets, and 14.33 kilograms of mephedrone Meow Meow. Whilst Zheng O-Ying, Pan O-Jun, Lai O-Xiang, and Wang O-Hong were arrested and taken into custody .

he defendant Zheng 0-Ying was suspected of violating Article 5, paragraph 2 of Narcotics Hazard Prevention Act which is the offence of possession with intention to sell category two narcotics , Article 5, paragraph 3 of the same act which is the offence of possession with intention to sell category three narcotics and Article 7,8 and 12 of Controlling Guns, Ammunition and Knives Act which is the offence of possession of illegal firearms and bullets after being interrogated by the prosecutor. The court gave its approval for incommunicado detention after the prosecutor applied to have Zheng 0-Ying in custody based on strong suspicion of guilt, risk of collusion and destruction of evidence. In the meantime, defendants Pan O-Jun, Wang O-Hong were on bail and defendant Lai O-Xiang was wanted for other cases and was sent by the police to the wanted court for trial.

Taiwan is a firearm-controlled country. Criminals who willingly possess and arbitrarily make use of firearms to provoke chaos could easily made an impact on law-abiding civilians. It is such a great threat to public security and law enforcement authorities should not take it lightly.
